14. Shhh… stop comparing yourself!

Yikes, we lost a couple of subscribers! I don’t mind telling you my ego was bruised and then it started… the voice in my head that I call Gertrude. I gave the voice a name because it was easier to deal with once I did. Yes, I know that the voice is just my insecurity and I know that it is not a good thing to give it too much attention but I am human.

It’s been two weeks since Benji set up the YouTube channel and things just went so well for the first week. This, second, week I have noticed a slow down. Not in the number of views – that seems to be climbing steadily – but in the subscriptions. Then I gain a couple and then another couple drop off. My intellect tells me “quite normal” but is it? Will have to check with Judy and Benji when I see them later today.

I was doing quite a negative number on myself, with Getrude’s help, and then I started to get rational again. Time to process from a place of gain – not one of loss. How many times have I said “if you concentrate on what you don’t have you will be sad”? Time to regroup because “when you concentrate on what you do have you will be happy”. I am so very grateful for all the views, subs and questions I have received. I have had the opportunity to give options to many, many people and had lots of wonderful responses to those posts.

Judy, Benji and I went out to dinner at the Onyx Steakhouse and Lounge, here in White Rock, BC and we had an awesome meal. They both came back and insisted that we do another session on BlogTV. Such fun, as usual! Someone even asked me about MY lipstick. When you are sitting next to the lady to has 86million followers because of her make-up knowledge that is quite a shock 🙂

The great learning for me today was to be patient. To not ruin my day by comparing my little wonderland with that of Judy’s 68 million! I am so lucky to have her in my life to give me the benefit of what she has done to gain that huge audience. She and Benji have spent three years building their knowledge and viewership. I will continue to help where I can, in my own way, at my own speed. I hunted down Desiderata and reread it. It always helps me when I get into the comparison hole. If you would like to see it try:
